On my last day of workout before the year ended, my coach and gym trainer, Felnor “Toots” Sale, made me do BodyWeight Exercises in contrast to the Weight Machine Exercises I have mostly been doing.
Usually, when you go to the gym at peak hours and every single equipment is being used, you can just find your own corner and do these BodyWeight Exercises.
With BodyWeight Exercises, you don’t need to depend on any equipment. You actually don’t need to go to the gym. Aside from working out all parts of your body, it also builds stamina.
These videos were unplanned. On the 3rd set of each program of 3 exercises each , my coach just said he will take my video to motivate me to finish the last set.
Let’s go !!!
Among the 3 programs, this was the most difficult for me.
Video 2: SLAM BALL / DUMBELL TOUCH LATERALS / FRONT SQUATS
Coach Toots once said that I should imagine the faces of people I don’t like on the floor when hitting it with the slam ball.
Video 3: BATTLE ROPE / SQUAT-TOSS/THROW / KNEE-TO-CHEST CRUNCHES
This was the program I enjoyed the most.

Frankly, I never do body weight exercises. Maybe I am such a hard core gym regular. Or I am just too lazy to master exercises that make use of body weights. When the equipment I need for a set is not available, I usually innovate by doing the same body part exercise but using different equipment or set. If the barbell bench press (free weights) is not available, I do the decline and incline first. If still not available when I finish and I don’t want to wait, then I try the dumbell bench press or the machine bench press or I do the flys. Well I pay for use of the gym, no matter how cheap the fee is in the neighborhood gym. So I might as well use what are there rather than do exercises that I can do at home.
Thanks Rodel. Interesting to know about your opinion on bodyweight exercises. Actually, the reason why my workout schedule is so late is to avoid the gym people during peak hours. I am also less stressed when there are lesser people.
One other reason Rodel why my new trainer gave me bodyweight exercises is to have variety in my workout.
I told him I get bored when I keep doing the same exercises over and over again. So there!
Your post makes me want to go back to jogging! Arghhh.. whats tough is how to keep on at it!
Thanks June. The bodyweight exercise is an alternative one in my gym training. I told my trainer to give me a variety of exercises to keep me interested because I get bored when doing the same sets over and over again. I just set aside 2 days a week to workout. Regards!
